Arizona’s STO program was designed to give the lowest-income families access to private school education. In practice, state data shows the majority of scholarship dollars flow to families earning well above the federal poverty level. The families at the bottom of the income ladder — the ones for whom a private school education would be impossible without a complete scholarship — quietly end up last in line.

Scholarkids was built to correct that.

Scholarkids is a certified Arizona School Tuition Organization, authorized by the Arizona Department of Revenue and listed on the official AZ STO registry. We redirect Arizona state tax dollars — dollar for dollar — into scholarships for the families who need them most.

We are not affiliated with any school, religion, or donor network. We have one criterion for awarding scholarships: household income. Lowest first. Every time.

We believe every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and achieve — regardless of what their family earns. We believe a partial scholarship that leaves tuition unaffordable is not a solution. And we believe donors deserve to know exactly where their money goes and what it does when it gets there.

Our goal is a full-tuition scholarship for every family on our waiting list — a complete school year, fully funded, at no cost to the family. We are honest that we are building toward that goal. Until our donor base gets there, we award the maximum possible to the two lowest-income families on our list. No spreading donations thin. No token gestures. Every dollar goes as far down the income ladder as it can reach.

Arizona law requires that a minimum of 90 percent of every dollar donated to an STO be awarded as scholarships. We go further. Every scholarship we award is paid directly to the school — never to the family. The law does not require this. We chose it because we believe your donation should move from your hands to a child’s education without passing through anyone else’s.

Scholarkids launched in 2025. In a short period, dozens of families across multiple Arizona schools applied for scholarships — entirely through word of mouth. We are growing. Every new donor moves a family on that waiting list closer to a full scholarship.
