Helping Put the Right School Within Reach
If you have ever looked at a private school and wondered whether your family could make it work financially — this page is for you. Scholarkids exists to work toward that answer being yes. Not a partial yes that leaves your family with a gap you cannot bridge — but a complete yes. A full-tuition scholarship that covers the entire school year at no cost to your family.
That is our north star. We are honest that we are not there yet for every family. But every donation we receive moves us closer — and every family that applies helps us show donors that the need is real. Here is exactly where we stand and what you can expect.
We are a certified Arizona School Tuition Organization authorized by the Arizona Department of Revenue. We do not charge families anything to apply. There are no hidden fees and no obligations.
Who We’re Here to Support
Scholarkids awards scholarships to Arizona families seeking to enroll their child in a qualifying private school. We rank every application by financial need — lowest household income first. That means the families who need help most move to the front of the line.
We do not rank by who applied first. We do not rank by school affiliation, religion, or any other factor. We rank by one thing: financial need. If your family has the lowest household income on our list, your application moves to the top.
This is our north star — and it is the reason Scholarkids exists. According to the Arizona Department of Revenue’s own annual report, the majority of AZ STO scholarship dollars have historically gone to families earning above 342 percent of the federal poverty level — above $106,000 a year for a family of four. We believe the families furthest from being able to afford private school deserve to be the priority — and that conviction is what shapes everything we do.
We are here for the families at the bottom of that income ladder. The families for whom a private school education would be impossible without significant financial help. That is who we are building this for.
What Our Scholarships Can Cover
We want to be completely transparent with you about this because your family deserves honesty, not false hope.
Our goal — our north star — is to award scholarships that cover 100 percent of tuition for a full school year. We will not spread donations thin across many families in amounts too small to make a real difference. That philosophy guides everything we do.
Here is where we stand today. Arizona law requires us to award scholarships to at least two students across at least two schools. Until our donation base grows enough to fund complete school years, we award to exactly two families — giving each the maximum our current donations allow. That amount may not yet reach 100 percent of tuition for a full year. But it will be the largest scholarship our donor base can responsibly fund — and it will go to the two families with the lowest household income on our list.
Every family that applies strengthens the case we make to donors. Every donor that gives monthly moves us faster toward full-tuition awards. You are not just applying for a scholarship — you are joining the effort to build something that did not exist before.
Scholarship payments are made directly to the school on your family’s behalf. You never handle the funds. The school receives payment and your family pays nothing out of pocket beyond whatever portion the scholarship does not yet cover.
A Simple, No-Cost Application
Applying is straightforward and completely free. Here is what to expect:
Step 1 — Start your application
Complete our online scholarship application. You will need basic information about your family, your child, and the school you are considering.
Step 2 — Provide household income documentation
Because we rank applications by financial need, we will ask you to provide documentation of your household income when we process your application. You don’t need to submit it when you fill out the online form — we’ll request it separately. This is how we ensure scholarships reach the families who need them most. Your information is kept strictly confidential and is never shared with donors, schools, or any third party.
Step 3 — Identify your school
Let us know which qualifying Arizona private school your child would like to attend. If you need help identifying qualifying schools in your area, contact us and we will help you find options.
Step 4 — We review and rank
We review all applications and rank them by household income. The families with the lowest income move to the front of the line. We will contact you about the status of your application.
Step 5 — Scholarship payment goes to the school
If your application is funded, we pay the scholarship directly to the school on your behalf. Your family pays nothing toward the funded portion of tuition.
Looking Beyond One School Year
We are honest with every family about this because we believe you deserve to know.
A scholarship for one year — even a partial one — opens a door. But a family that cannot plan beyond the current school year cannot fully commit to a school, build relationships, or let their child settle into the community that is shaping them.
That is why our long-term goal is not just one scholarship for one year. It is a sustained, multi-year commitment — full-tuition scholarships renewed annually for the families who need them most, funded by donors who give monthly and annually with exactly that purpose in mind.
We are not there yet for every family. But we are building toward it deliberately and transparently. Every family that applies, every donor that gives, and every school that participates moves us closer to the day when a Scholarkids scholarship means your child’s entire education — not just one year, and not just part of the tuition.
When you apply, you are not just applying for a scholarship. You are joining a community of families, donors, and schools that believe every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and achieve — regardless of what their family earns.
More Arizona Families Are Looking for a Way Forward
You are not alone. Several dozen families across multiple Arizona schools have already applied. They found us, believed in what we are building, and trusted us with their application. We are working every day to grow the donor base that funds their scholarships.
If you are wondering whether to apply — whether your family qualifies, whether there is any point, whether anything will actually come of it — the answer to all of those questions is the same.
Apply. Let us put your family on the list. Let us show donors that the need is real. And let us work together toward the day when every family on that list has a complete answer to the question that brought them here.
