The High School Volunteer Program is designed for motivated students eager to gain hands-on experience, make a tangible impact in their communities, and help expand access to quality education across Arizona.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Age & Enrollment: Open to students who are at least 14 years old and currently enrolled in Grades 9–12.
- Parental Consent & Safety: Students under 18 require signed parent or legal guardian consent, a brief parent verification call, and adult attendance for all off-site events or presentations.
Ways You Can Help

Volunteers may share approved information but do not establish partnerships, negotiate arrangements, make commitments or act as business representatives for Scholarkids. They may not provide tax, legal, financial or scholarship advice, answer case-specific questions or handle contributions.

How to Get Started: Step-by-Step Onboarding
We maintain rigorous safety standards to protect our student volunteers and ensure every parent/guardian is fully informed. Here is how the process works:
Step 1: Submit High School Volunteer Intake Form
Complete and submit the high school volunteer form to begin.
Step 2: Parent/Guardian Review & Consent
Scholarkids will email your parent or legal guardian a copy of the submitted intake form & the link to the Parent/Guardian Consent & Student Safety Agreement, which they must complete, sign, and email back.
Step 3: Parent/Guardian Verification Call
To confirm consent, a Scholarkids team member will coordinate a brief video call with your parent or legal guardian.
Step 4: Application Review & Opportunity Matching
Upon receiving verified consent, our team matches your skills, schedule, and location with active, age-appropriate volunteer projects.
Step 5: Orientation & Training
Before starting, you’ll receive the Scholarkids Volunteer Handbook, official brand materials, and any necessary training. We clearly outline safety expectations, role guidelines, and contact protocols.
Step 6: Assignment Confirmation & Logging Hours
When a suitable opportunity opens, full assignment details are sent to both you and your parent/guardian. After completing an assignment, log your service following our reporting instructions to receive verified hours.

Who can apply for the program?

What kind of work will I be doing?
We prioritize meaningful engagement over generic tasks. Opportunities include community outreach, public presentations, event support, fundraising awareness, content creation, and leadership development.
How does Scholarkids ensure student safety?
Safety is our highest priority. Student activities take place in familiar, pre-approved public spaces—such as schools, libraries, community centers, and local fairs. Students never conduct door-to-door solicitation or enter private residences. Additionally, a parent or guardian must accompany students for the entire duration of off-site events, fairs, or presentations.
Who covers transportation?
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for all transportation arrangements. For off-site events and community fairs, a parent/guardian must attend and remain present.
Do I need prior knowledge of Arizona tax credits?
No prior knowledge is needed. Scholarkids provides clear training materials. Note: Student volunteers provide general program information only and do not offer personal tax advice
What is the time commitment?
Our program is flexible. You can participate in single events, serve occasionally, or commit to regular monthly activities depending on your schedule.
Are virtual volunteer opportunities available?
Yes, select virtual assignments may be available depending on current organizational projects.
How do I earn a recommendation letter?
Letters of recommendation are awarded to dedicated volunteers who demonstrate outstanding performance, consistent reliability, and active leadership. They are not issued automatically.
Will this guarantee college admission or a scholarship?
While meaningful community service strengthens college and scholarship applications, participation does not guarantee college admission or financial awards.
Does volunteering increase my chances of receiving a Scholarkids scholarship?
No. Volunteer participation is entirely separate from scholarship evaluation and provides no preferential treatment in scholarship awards.
Are student volunteers compensated or reimbursed?
Scholarkids positions are strictly voluntary and unpaid. Volunteers do not receive wages, stipends, or commissions. Scholarkids does not reimburse travel, printing, or parking expenses; digital materials and low-cost options are provided to keep participation accessible.
Volunteer Responsibilities and Standards
Scholarkids maintains a verified record of completed volunteer service to support accountability and provide a credible history for school, scholarship, application and future opportunities. All services must follow role requirements, including applicable guidance, acknowledgments, consent, supervision and site approval. Volunteers must use Scholarkids-approved materials and remain within established role boundaries.
